He has had a colourful career. He was a sergeant in the United States Marine Corps Amphibious Unit and also helped in the Multi-National Peackeeping Force for the Lebanon Development. After six years in the military he had to retire after being injured in the line of duty, but did so with commendations. John later joined the New York City Police Department, where he served as a Detective in the Fugitive Division's Warrant section. It was during his time in New York that his son, Luke, was kidnapped and murdered. This was also the first time he met with Agent Monica Reyes. He soon joined the FBI, and was asked by Assistant Director Kersh to run the task force looking for Mulder. Not wanting to fail in his task he took to it with a vengance. Within a short space of time he was assigned as Agent Scully's partner. Scully soon grew to trust him and some might say he has been acting a little too fondly towards her! He does not believe in the paranormal, he believes instead that everything can be explained in a logical manner (reminds me of somebody else), with facts and good old detective work. He has recently taken over the X-Files division and has asked Monica Reyes to be his partner since Kersh's office is being investigated. |
